About HEVIN (Helping Every Veteran In Need): We Connect Community with Veterans in Need.
HEVIN (Helping Every Veteran in Need) is a non-profit organization committed to assisting local veterans that have needs in our community.  We take time to get to know the veteran and to figure out the best
method of assisting while taking steps to wisely use our resources.  HEVIN works with Veterans for a variety of needs, Some exapmles are helping take a vet to an appointment, delivering groceries or medicine, or providing furniture or home repairs.  HEVIN is committed to finding local veterans that are in need of any type of assistance.
Our Board goes through a list of needs each month and we choose how to help the veterans in need.

Some examples of needs HEVIN has assisted Veterans with:
Mike’s widow was in need of assistance with burial costs. Mike was an Air Force Veteran. We were able to
assist her with a portion of the burial costs of about $1,600.00. She was very appreciative of the help.

Amanda was in need of vehicle assistance to be able to get her to work and appointments.
We were able toassist her on her down payment and first months insurance of a Mini Van.

A veteran needed to be moved out of a garage and into his apartment.
We were able to provide furnishings for the whole house and assist with the move.

Local Veteran In Need

We currently have a need of a veteran that could use some assistance installing a toilet and faucet in his home,.  He has the materials, just cannot afford the labor.

UPDATE:  Thank you to an ANONYMOUS, GENEROUS and AWESOME community member who donated a vehicle to this Veteran Family!

We have a veteran in need of a 7 passenger vehicle. He is living on an RV with his family and working hard to provide for them. They had a Suburban but it broke down so they traded it for a small car so that he could get to work and back. But they can’t go to church or anywhere else as a family now.

Mike’s widow was in need of assistance with burial costs. Mike was an Air Force Veteran. We were able to assist her with a portion of the burial costs of about $1,600.00. She was very appreciative of the assistance. Thank you HEVIN.

HEVIN was able to help with the vehicle and a portion of Insurance for the family.

We have a Navy Veteran with a 16 month old and cancer who is in desperate need of a used, dependable car! If you have a car to donate please let me know! Or you can donate to help cover the costs.

HEVIN was able to assist this veteran with his needs.

Plumbing and Minor Construction
We have a veteran in need of 2 new windows and some plumbing at his home. He is elderly and unhealthy.

Thank you Bucks Family Auto Brokers LLC for helping a Navy Veteran get a car! This car will change her and her family’s life! Thank you Buck and all of YOU who so generously donated to HEVIN so that we could help her get this car! We couldn’t do this without the AMAZING support of our community!

What People have to say about HEVIN.

I am a disabled Veteran living in subsidized housing, through the Vash program provided by the VA. I am low income and had some serious car problems. My case worker referred me to Hevin to try and get some assistance. The folks there helped me figure out what the problem was and get it fixed. Without their help, I would have no way to get to appointments, grocery store, ect…..I am so grateful for their help, without it, there would be some serious problems.

Todd L.

Thank you everyone who donated and volunteered to help move a veteran out of a garage and into his apartment! Thank you Tanya and Cathie and your family for the whole house furnishings! Thank you Rich and Jesse for your muscles! Thank you all of our HEVIN supporters for making this happen!

What an incredible group of folks doing incredible things for the most deserving… our Veterans!

They came to our house and moved a dinning room table out and set up our new one. The husband and wife team were very nice. What a great thing they are doing for Veterans!

HEVIN really came thru for my wife and I…..with some much needed, much appreciated help!!

This is an amazing family raising money and helping our local Vets! Sometimes our small area doesn’t reach or get recognized as the bigger cities! It’s up to Us the small town community to stand up and take care of our own!

I am a disabled Vet who was in need of something to sleep on. After talking with Rhonda, I had a brand new futon given to me within a days.  Hevin4vets rocks! I couldn’t have made without them.

THIS NEED HAS BEEN MET, THANK YOU Lance Granger for taking your time today to help a veteran in need. She called to say she was so very thankful to you and so are we here at HEVIN!

I have a female veteran who is 100% VA disabled who lives in a fifth-wheel trailer. She needs some help finding someone who can go out to her and seal the roof of the trailer on a dry day. From what I understand, it is a newer trailer and needs to be resealed every few years around the A/C unit and other components on the roof. She is not physically able to get up there to do it herself. She says that the only thing needed is a caulking gun and a rag for cleanup.

THIS NEED HAS BEEN MET- THANK YOU!!

THANK YOU HEVIN COMMUNITY FOR ALWAYS FAITHFULLY HELPING OUR VETERANS IN NEED!
HEVIN is asking for help-
Does anyone have a small plug in heater for a veteran in need. He needs to borrow it for 1 month at the most. He has an apartment lined up but won’t be ready until the end of October. His living conditions are not good- to put it mildly -and we are trying to keep him warm for a month until he gets to move in to his apartment. If you have a heater please let me know. It needs to be safe and electric only.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

JoLynn McCully

Secretary
JoLynn McCully was born, raised, and educated in Cowlitz County. A third generation Toutlite/Silverlaker she attended Toutle Lake Schools K-11 before being accepted into an accelerated program in 1989 where she went to work for the Kelso Public Library and graduated from Kelso High School in 1990. She furthered her education at Lower Columbia College before deciding to enter the workforce and begin her family.
JoLynn maintains a special affinity for Veterans and their causes. Her father served in WWII, in the Aleutians and Japan, as did two uncles one of whom we lost over France. Her extended family served and continues to serve including uncles, cousins, brothers, friends, nephews, and her youngest son. Hearing the vision her childhood friend, Rich Black, had for HEVIN and becoming a Mother of a Marine (MoM) inspired her to take her years of volunteer work with the local schools, clubs, and other organizations and focus on lending them to this vital ongoing mission of connecting Veterans in need to their community.

Bill Josh

Bill Josh is 30 years old, a local Realtor, and his proud of his amazing family. He has 2 sons, twelve year old Zaydrian and two year old Theodore. He is married to Jennifer and together they support and encourage one another to take part in bettering their community. They feel blessed and want to give back as best as they can.   Bill is a Veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged December of 2009. He quickly felt like he became a statistic because he was young, injured, unemployed, and trying to navigate a VA System that left him feeling lost. Fast forward to the present day and he feel blessed beyond measure. Bill is classified as a
disabled veteran but that doesn’t stop him from working to better his community. Bill likes to volunteer and spends much of his time serving on City/County Boards where he feels he can help make a difference. Bill has worked on Veteran issues for the past 8 or so years and will continue to do so as long as he can. He had always wanted to start an organization such as HEVIN, but wasn’t sure where
to start. This is why he is so appreciative of the opportunity to help Veterans in need in our community, through HEVIN. His goal as a HEVIN board member is to change lives, connect Veterans, and show our appreciation to those who need help the most.
